Celeste Neuhaus
2026 PostNatural Artist in Residence
We are thrilled to announce Celeste Neuhaus (she/they) as our 2026 Artist-In-Residence. Celeste launched a series of performances titled In Observance in the Tonsorium@PostNatural beginning with Licking The Wound on Feb 13, 2026.
Celeste is a multimodal artist and witch who makes devotional offerings through painting, collage, sculpture, installation, performance, video and interactive ritual. Revealing the interdependencies between the somatic, psychological, ecological, and cosmological, her work invites healing and incites transformation.
In Observance is a 4 part performance series created by Artist In Residence Celeste Neuhaus that serves as magical, ecological and erotic reclamation of the layered meanings underneath one holiday during each of the four seasons of 2026.
Incorporating specimens from the Center For Postnatural History’s collection, and including other contributing artists, In Observance evokes what lies beneath the surface of Valentine’s Day, Easter, The Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. At the convergence where the post-natural seeps into the overculture’s traditions, each performance event tends to the cosmological roots of what have since largely morphed into rote rituals of consumption. In Observance both honors and resists the conditions of the time we are living in by offering absurdist and surreal rituals of solidarity and celebration.
